The Mushroom Challenge?

According to "Ikonet.com" there are over 50,000 different species of mushroom.

1-2% of species are poisonous, some are medicinal and most are edible.

I have taken it upon myself to grow, experiment with, taste, smell and cook with a whole variety of different mushrooms, to bring to you, all the knowledge and experience I could possibly muster.

This challenge, which I have accepted, will be conducted over the next few years. As I begin to build a directory/organised blog about the mushrooms and their world, I'm hoping it will give you more of an insight into just how incredible these funghi are and how they should be added to your daily/weekly diet.

Did you know that a small portion of rare funghi have to have exactly the right circumstances and environment for them in order to grow? For example - It can take up to 10 years for a pine tree to provide the Amanita Muscaria with the right conditions to be able to grow and flourish. 10 years! It's pure luck and chance!
